Givaro is a simple way to pass on items you no longer need and collect items you do.
Givers list items for free
Takers pay £1 to collect
Collection can be self-pickup or delivery (paid by the taker)
That's it.
Why is there a £1 fee?
The £1 helps keep the platform reliable and fair. It:
Confirms that someone genuinely wants the item
Reduces no-shows and time-wasting
Helps us run and support the service
The item itself is always free.
Do I need an account?
You can browse without an account. You’ll only need to sign up when you want to give or take an item, so we can keep things safe and accountable.
What can I give away?
You can give away items that are safe and usable. If something is damaged or has a fault, that’s fine, just be clear in the description and photos so people know what they’re collecting. We don’t allow unsafe or illegal items.
Do I have to meet the person collecting?
No. You can choose:
Self-pickup (at a time and place you agree)
Contact-free courier collection, where the item is left in a safe spot and the courier collects it
You’re always in control.
What if no one wants my item?
That happens sometimes. You can:
Relist it with better photos or details
Extend the listing
Or remove it with no penalty
How do I know if an item is any good?
Each listing includes:
Photos
A condition label
A description from the giver
What does delivery cost?
Delivery isn’t included in the £1. If you choose delivery, the cost depends on:
Distance
Size and weight of the item
You’ll see the price before you confirm, and you can always choose self-pickup (depending on the giver’s preference) instead.
Can I negotiate or ask the giver to pay for delivery?
No. The item is free. Collection costs are paid by the person taking the item. This keeps things simple and avoids awkward conversations.
Do you have a refund policy?
We have a refund policy. If you're unhappy with a transaction, check our policy details for eligibility and how to request a refund.
How do you keep people safe?
We use:
User accounts
In-app messaging (no personal numbers needed)
Ratings after each transaction
Clear rules on what can and can’t be listed
If something doesn’t feel right, you can report it in the app.
What items aren’t allowed?
We don’t allow:
Weapons
Dangerous or recalled items
Illegal goods
Live animals
Anything unsafe or inappropriate
Listings that break the rules are removed.
Still have Questions?
You can contact support directly in the app, we’re here to help.
